Do's and Dont's when making a music video

Do’s

1. Consistency from start to finish.
2.  A clear sense of genre and artist - make sure the audience knows.
3.  A good & natural performance - keep the audience entertained.
4.  An idea that is simple yet effective - media students don't have much resources
5. Creative editing - but not too over the top

Don’ts

1. Well - known song (don't be tempted to copy original video).
2. Over done effects - shouldn't use effects to disguise poor footage.
3. Aimless driving around - it's boring and it's not creative.
4. Scenes involving alcohol, drugs or fags (even stimulated).
5. Shots of people just walking around - it will become boring for the audience.
6. Speeding up the footage or putting it in reverse - it becomes confusing.
7. Zooms.
8. Footage from elsewhere - should be your own unless there's a good reason.
9. Over the top narrative.
